Indications (Why they're done)
These surgeries are recommended for women experiencing:
- Recurrent miscarriages
- Infertility of unknown cause
- Abnormal uterine bleeding
- Failed IVF cycles
- Suspected uterine abnormalities (e.g., on ultrasound or HSG)
Common Hysteroscopic Fertility-Enhancing Procedures
1. Hysteroscopic Septum Resection
- Indication : Uterine septum (a congenital malformation linked with miscarriages and infertility)
- Procedure : The septum is cut using scissors, electrosurgery, or laser to restore a normal uterine cavity.
2. Hysteroscopic Adhesiolysis
- Indication : Intrauterine adhesions (Asherman’s Syndrome), often due to previous surgeries or infections
- Procedure : Adhesions are cut and removed to restore the cavity and endometrial function.
3. Hysteroscopic Polypectomy
- Indication : Endometrial polyps (can interfere with implantation)
- Procedure : Polyps are removed using scissors, electrosurgery, or a morcellator.
